Chairing The Board Video Toolkit

One of the areas we at LEAD are passionate about is upskilling those who courageously take on the role of Chair of their non-profit or community organisation.

We want to ensure that anyone who is new to the Chair role is or who aspires to take on the role, is equipped to do the job to the best of their ability.

To that end we’re pleased to be able to share the following four videos which are part of the Chairing the Board video toolkit launched last week by our friends at Centre for Social Impact.

These videos are part of the National Action Plan for Community Governance, created by a group of organisations and community leaders to create resources to support people in board roles in community organisations. The Action Plan has six key outcome areas, one of which is that ‘All Boards are well chaired’.

The content for these videos was created with the input of more than 30 experienced board chairs, based on their experiences about what they wished they knew when they got their first chair role.

Back to Basics
This first video is about getting back to basics. They key things you need to know to get started as Chair – what the role is all about and how to chair a great meeting.

Board Dynamics

One of the ways LEAD supports Chairs is with our free bi-monthly lunchtime online Chair’s Forum. The next meet-up is on at 11:30am -12:30pm on Wednesday 19 May and will focus on the Chair/Manager relationship.There is no charge to participate, but you must register.
